Email search
Enter an email address to see everything public about it in one place: the sites it has an account on, the data breaches it appears in, and the name, photo, usernames and location linked to it.
One search instead of five
Finding out who is behind an email usually means checking a breach site, a few profile sites and a handful of sign-up pages one at a time. Email search runs all of them at once and puts the answers together, so the name from one source, the photo from another and the accounts from a third show up as a single profile.
What it checks
Accounts are checked on more than 170 sites, from Spotify, Amazon and Microsoft 365 to forums, shops, games and dating apps. Data breaches come from XposedOrNot, a free and open breach database. Profiles come from Gravatar, which many sites use for profile pictures, and from GitHub, where an email in public code commits often comes with a real name. The email domain is checked too, so you can tell a company address from a free inbox or a throwaway one.
How the profile is put together
Each source reports the names, usernames, photos and locations it found. The profile at the top lists them together, with the source next to each one, and puts values that several sources agree on first. A name confirmed by two sources is a stronger lead than one seen only once.
Nothing is sent to the address
Every check asks a question the site already answers in public: is this email registered, is there a profile for it, has it appeared in a breach. No account is created, no password reset is started and no message goes to the address, so the owner is not notified. Sites that only reveal an account by emailing its owner are skipped.
Checking your own email
Search your own address to find old accounts you forgot about and breaches you were never told of. For each breach, change the password on that site and anywhere you reused it. For accounts you no longer use, log in and delete them, so they cannot leak again.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find out who owns an email address?
Type the email above and press search. If the owner has a Gravatar profile, public GitHub commits or accounts that show a name or username, they appear in the profile at the top, with the source of each one.
Will the person know I searched their email?
No. The search does not sign up, log in, start a password reset or send anything to the address.
What is the difference between this and the email account checker?
The email account checker answers one question: which sites have an account for this email. Email search checks many more sites and adds data breaches, Gravatar, GitHub and the email domain, then combines everything into one profile.
Does it work for Gmail addresses?
Yes, it works for any address. For Gmail addresses, Gmail search can also show the Google account behind the address, such as its name, photo and Google Maps reviews.
Is email search free?
Yes. Searching an email on IdSnoop is free and does not need an account.
