EXIF data remover

Remove the GPS location, device details, date and all other hidden metadata from your photos before you share them. Add one photo or a whole batch, then download clean copies at full quality. It all happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

What the EXIF remover does

Photos carry hidden metadata: where they were taken, when, on which phone or camera, and sometimes a serial number or your name. The remover cuts all of that out of the file and gives you a clean copy to download. It removes EXIF and GPS data, XMP and IPTC fields, comments and the data some phones attach after the image, such as motion photo clips.

Full quality, nothing re-compressed

For JPEG, PNG and WebP photos, only the metadata is removed and the image data is copied over untouched, so the clean photo looks exactly the same as the original. The colour profile is kept so colours do not shift, and a photo taken sideways keeps its rotation so it still shows the right way up. HEIC photos from iPhones are saved as a high quality JPEG, which carries no metadata at all.

Checked after cleaning

After a photo is cleaned, the remover reads the new file back and checks that no location, date, device, serial number or name is left. Each photo in the list shows what was removed, so you can see exactly what you would have shared.

Your photos never leave your device

Most online metadata removers upload your photo to their server first, which defeats the point for a private photo. This one runs in your browser: the photo is read, cleaned and saved on your own device, and nothing is sent to IdSnoop or anyone else.

When to remove metadata

Clean a photo before you sell something online, post in a forum, send a picture to someone you do not know well, or share a file through email, a cloud link or a messaging app that keeps the original. Not sure what a photo contains? Open it in the IdSnoop photo metadata viewer first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove the location from a photo?

Add the photo above and download the clean copy. The GPS location and all other metadata are removed, and the picture itself stays the same.

Does removing EXIF data reduce quality?

No for JPEG, PNG and WebP: the image data is copied unchanged and only the metadata is cut out. HEIC photos are converted to a high quality JPEG.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and your photos never leave your device.

Can I clean several photos at once?

Yes. Add as many photos as you like, then download them one by one or all at once.

Is the EXIF remover free?

Yes. It is free, needs no account, and has no limit.
