Frequently asked questions

What is a digital footprint?

A digital footprint is the trail of accounts, posts, and profile details a person leaves online. A username search shows part of that trail by revealing which websites have an account under a given handle.

How do I find social media accounts for a username?

Enter the username in the search box. IdSnoop checks it against more than 500 websites and lists each site where a matching public profile exists, with a link to open it.

What platforms does IdSnoop check?

IdSnoop covers major social networks and many smaller sites, including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Pinterest, GitHub, Twitch, SoundCloud, Telegram, Chess.com, and Goodreads.

What information can IdSnoop show about a profile?

It shows whatever the profile makes publicly visible. That can include the profile photo, display name, bio, location, follower counts, and account creation date. If a site does not publish a detail, IdSnoop leaves it out.

What is the difference between exact matches and possibly related accounts?

Exact matches are accounts that use the same username you searched. Possibly related accounts are found by following names that appeared on those profiles. They may belong to the same person, but that is not guaranteed, so they stay in a separate tab.

Can I search more than one username at once?

Yes. You can enter up to 5 usernames separated by commas or spaces. Each username gets its own results tab.

Do I need an account to search?

No. You can run a username search without creating an account. Signing in lets you keep a history of your scans.

Is it legal to search for a username?

IdSnoop only looks at information that websites make publicly available. How you use that information is up to you, and you should follow the laws and platform rules that apply where you are.

How accurate are the results?

A match means a public profile exists with that username. It does not prove the account belongs to a specific person, because different people can use the same handle. Treat results as leads to verify, not as proof of identity.
